Last summer, a completed trade involving Pierre Luc Dubois for Darcy Kuemper was perhaps the most eye-opening move of the offseason, and the Vancouver Canucks and GM Patrik Allvin are under pressure to make one just like this in order to satisfy the fan base.

The Canucks are putting just about everything on the table in their hunt for a top six centre, but with two solid goalies on their roster and a prospect in Arturs Silovs who has shown some promise, maybe they could consider trading from a position of strength...

Exploring the Vancouver Canucks version of Dubois for Kuemper

The Canucks most glaring hole after trading J.T Miller to the New York Rangers midway through the season has become the 2nd line centre spot behind Elias Pettersson.
Given Pettersson's struggles throughout last season and Filip Chytil's health concerns - that need has never been greater.
The Canucks have depth in young blueliners as well as goaltenders, and will likely look to deal from these areas of strength to address their greatest need.
Last offseason, the Washington Capitals and LA Kings pulled off a huge trade, with Dubois and his 7 remaining seasons at $8.5 million for struggling goaltender Darcy Kuemper.
The trade was a risk for both teams, but it paid off in dividends with both squads getting a player that was tremendously useful to their season.
In an article by Canucks Army, some potential trade options are explored that could include either of the two goalies expected to be on the NHL roster next season.
One team that sticks out as an option is the Columbus Blue Jackets, who had one of the most shockingly positive seasons in the NHL.
The Blue Jackets would love to take a step towards playoffs after being in the mix until the end of the season, but their weakest link for the last two seasons has been their goaltending.
Columbus has several intriguing young options, and former 12th overall pick Cole Sillinger could be a great target.
The Canucks have the luxury of two solid NHL goalies, and we'll see if both make it to the start of training camp as part of the organization.
