An Eastern Conference team has reportedly inquired with the Vancouver Canucks about the availability of forward J.T. Miller.

Hearing J.T. Miller's name in trade rumors isn't anything new and it's something he's dealt with during his time as a member of the Vancouver Canucks.

While it seems unlikely that the Vancouver Canucks would move on from J.T. Miller this season, given what he's brought to the team in recent years, that hasn't stopped one team from asking about his availability.

New York Rangers reportedly inquired about J.T. Miller

The New York Rangers are at a bit of a crossroads as they look for their first Stanley Cup Final appearance since 2014 and this season, they've struggled at times and haven't been playing as well as their record suggests.

With that said, the New York Rangers have placed a pair of veterans - Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba - on the trade block as they try to shake things up.

It also appears that General Manager Chris Drury is looking to make a big addition to his roster in order to keep them in contention for a deep playoff run next spring.

According to Arthur Staple of The Athletic, Chris Drury and the New York Rangers have called the Vancouver Canucks to inquire about J.T. Miller's availability.

"A league source said the Rangers recently inquired with the Canucks about J.T. Miller, who is currently on an indefinite leave of absence. Miller was a 2011 first-round pick by the Rangers and has been coveted by Drury before - the Rangers were after Miller before the 2021-22 trade deadline, but wouldn't include Braden Schneider in a deal. Miller then signed a seven-year extension worth $8-million a year, pulling him off the market." Staple said on Friday.

It's not a shock that the New York Rangers, or any other team in the National Hockey League for that matter, would be interested in trading for J.T. Miller.

In his last three seasons, Miller has registered 99, 82 and 103 points, respectively and can be a legit offensive threat to place into a team's top-six and first powerplay unit, with the ability to take his game to the next level under high-pressure situations.

Miller, 30, has appeared in 17 games for the Vancouver Canucks this season where he's registered 16 points (six goals, ten assists), nine penalty minutes and is a plus-one.

The East Palestine, Ohio native is currently away from the Vancouver Canucks on a leave of absence for personal reasons, with a possibility he could rejoin the team once they return from their six-game road trip.

Everyone is hoping that J.T. Miller is doing well and that he's spending time with his family.
