Daily Faceoff shares their ranking for Vancouver Canucks' prospect pool
Daily Faceoff has shared their ranking for the Vancouver Canucks' prospect pool.
The 2024-25 season is right around the corner and Steven Ellis of Daily Faceoff has shared his rankings of each team's prospect pools heading into the new campaign.
San Jose, Montreal, Anaheim, Columbus and Detroit make up the top-five on their list, while Tampa Bay (32), Boston (31), Ottawa (30), Edmonton (29) and Vegas (28), are the bottom-five teams on Daily Faceoff's ranking.
The Vancouver Canucks come in at 20th on Daily Faceoff's ranking, a jump of two spots when compared to 2023. Ellis believes that the Canucks have top-quality options at every position in their prospect pool, but do lack at center depth.
"The goal of drafting prospects is to turn them into NHLers, and I think the Canucks will have a decent success rate, at least compared to others in the bottom half. The Canucks are one of the most active teams when it comes to scouting Europe (their GM is Swedish, which helps), and they've got top-quality options at every position. They've got high-end players like Jonathan Lekkerimaki and Tom Willander, the depth in Arshdeep Bains and Sawyer Mynio, and even a decent young goaltender in Artūrs ilovs. The Canucks are lacking center depth, but I think they've got enough variance in their player styles to be positive about what's next." Ellis said. This month, Ellis shared his top-ten prospects in the Vancouver Canucks' system and there isn't too much of a surprise as to who's on their list.
The Canucks' top-ten prospects according to Daily Faceoff are: Jonathan Lekkerimaki (1), Tom Willander (2), Arturs Silovs (3), Elias Pettersson (4), Aatu Raty (5), Arshdeep Bains (6), Sawyer Mynio (7), Kirill Kudryavtsev (8), Anthony Romani (9), Melvin Fernstrom (10).
