The Vancouver Canucks still do not have Dakota Joshua in the lineup, but after his first official skate with he team yesterday, he is proving to be a major leader off the ice.
After the Canucks won their second consecutive road game against the Philadelphia Flyers yesterday (October 19th) with a big shutout by
Kevin Lankinen. Dakota Joshua was seen in the locker room being the first guy to give high fives and celebrations to the boys as they came off the ice.
Dakota Joshua has been out since the beginning of the offseason as it was announced he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. When the cancerous tumor was found, he received immediate surgery to have it removed.
The procedure was a success and is now recovering in order to get back into the lineup as soon as he can. In good news, before yesterday's game against the Flyers, Joshua participated in his first team skate which must have added an extra jolt of energy into the team.
The 28-year-old power forward has turned into a major
fan favorite since he joined the team in 2022. Last year, along with his fantastic physical play, he also had a breakout year on the stats sheet. He scored 18 goals and 14 assists for 32 points in 63 contests.
His production did not stop in the playoffs either as he scored 4 goals and 4 assists in 13 Stanley Cup playoff games.
No timeline has been revealed on when he will return, but the team and especially the Vancouver Canucks fans are eagerly anticipating his return, and with him finally skating, you can expect him back sooner rather than later.
