Training camp is in full swing for the Vancouver Canucks and on Day 1, head coach Rick Tocchet had star forward Elias Pettersson playing alongside their big free agent addition, Jake DeBrusk, as well as 2022 first-round pick Jonathan Lekkerimaki.
After his group's on-ice session on Thursday, Pettersson met with the media and was asked about Jake DeBrusk and what he brings to the Canucks' roster. Pettersson said that he brings plenty of skill and is a good two-way player and that he's glad to be playing with him, rather than against him now.
Pettersson was then asked what makes Jake DeBrusk a good fit to play on a line with him. The Swedish forward mentioned how he works hard, plays physical and combine that with his skill and smartness makes him a strong fit with him.
Canucks fans will get the opportunity to see the duo in action on Sunday when they hold a Blue vs White scrimmage in Penticton. It's also been confirmed that Pettersson and DeBrusk will be in action for Wednesday's game against the Calgary Flames in Abbotsford, along with Quinn Hughes and Tyler Myers.
