The Vancouver Canucks traded J.T Miller to the New York Rangers this time last year, in exchange they received Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini and some draft picks, despite the subpar return, it seems it's the Rangers that were the losers in the deal.

Miller has been less than impressive for the Rangers, and was named captain despite having clear leadership issues.
"The Vancouver Canucks were right to trade J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers last year, but the Rangers appear to have made a big mistake with the forward in naming him captain after such a short amount of time."-Stinson

Did the New York Rangers lose in getting J.T. Miller.

Trevor Beggs of the Daily Hive reported on the possible mistake the Rangers made in acquiring Miller. When he first arrived to New York, he was producing, and everything was seeming positive. But this year has been the opposite, the Rangers are having their worst season in years, and Miller's leadership isn't helping.
"Regardless, Miller’s impact hasn’t helped New York in the standings, with fans calling out his backchecking issues. The Miller acquisition hasn’t helped the Rangers as much as they anticipated, and the decision to trade what ended up being the 12th overall pick for him looks foolish in hindsight. But did they really fare worse than the Canucks in this deal?"-Beggs

Now was Miller that bad in the locker room for the Canucks? Because he is no longer there, but they still have chemistry issues, and Elias Pettersson's name has come up a lot in this discussions. Especially his fallout with Quinn Hughes, who claimed Pettersson was lazy in the offseason, and it's where their relationship fell apart. Pettersson could have a fate similar to Miller's if it continues to be a problem.
