The Vancouver Canucks were right to trade J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers last year, but the Rangers appear to have made a big mistake with the forward in naming him captain after such a short amount of time.
Miller was known for being toxic during his time with the Canucks, and since he has been captain, the Rangers have severely suffered.
"Understandably, New York Rangers fans aren't too pleased with how J.T. Miller is playing at the moment either, with several taking to social media to share their thoughts on the matter."-Jaxon
Should J.T. Miller be stripped of his captaincy.
PuckEmpire posted on X the dissatisfaction with the Rangers and their decision to name him captain. He was known for being a bad teammate and even had a feud with Bo Horvat, which saw the former Canuck captain traded the New York Islanders.
JT Miller might be a top-10 worst captain decision in NHL history. He's a known toxic guy who ruined his last locker room because of his ego and you give him the 'C' of an Original Six franchise after... 32 games. Mind boggling when he was named and just keeps getting worse."
The Rangers are dead last in the Eastern Conference, and Miller's leadership has not been helping. Now with Artemi Panarin for sure leaving the club, the Rangers are losing their most important forward, and Miller will be forced to pick up the slack. It's not looking for the Rangers and their captain right now. And the Canucks keep being proven right about trading Miller away. Despite the Canucks current lack of leadership, Miller definitely wouldn't help it improve. Only time will tell if Miller grows into his role, or crumbles from the pressure.
