Fans Left Scratching Their Heads as Adam Foote's Latest Comments Take a Page Out of Rick Tocchet's Playbook
With all the excitement about the Vancouver Canucks having a new head coach and fresh voice in the room in hopes of taking them to the next level in 2025-2026, some recent comments by Adam Foote indicates not much will be changing.
Just a few weeks ago, things in Vancouver got shaken up when Jack Adams award winning head coach Rick Tocchet decided that his time with the organization was going to come to an end.
The issues within the locker room and the outside noise was enough to drive him out of the city and subsequently join the
Philadelphia Flyers as their next bench boss.
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the team has hired Adam Foote as the 22nd Head Coach in franchise history.
Adam Foote has concerning comments about his style of coaching
Tocchet was a fairly polarizing figure in his short tenure with the Canucks, many fans and members of the media coining him as an "old school" coach who does not like to let his players be free on the ice by playing a rigid and outdated style of play.
The hopes was that a new hire would put this criticism to the wayside, but some of his latest comments are fairly concerning, leaving fans scratching their heads on the decision by Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford.
Recap of Adam Foote's interview with Halford & Brough.
The point of hiring a new coach is too get a fresh voice and system within the room to get that players to buy in, and it appears by promoting Tocchet's assistant could be a mistake if he does not provide a new angle to the game.
Foote talking about how he doesn't like set plays on the PP and how he likes shots from the top.
Going to be another long season with more dinosaur hockey.
