Filip Chytil's Season in Doubt After Crushing Injury Update By the Vancouver Canucks

After a big win on the road against the Washington Capitals on Sunday, the Vancouver Canucks unfortunately were dealing with numerous injury issues to a trio of forwards.

Czech centerman Filip Chytil was hit by Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson late in the first period and was forced to leave the game, while Jonathan Lekkerimaki also left later on in the opening frame after making contact with Matt Roy.

The Vancouver Canucks have been evaluating all three of their injured forwards, including Teddy Blueger, for the past 18 or so hours and after speaking with the medical team, the club made an announcement regarding two of those who left Sunday's contest.

In a social media post on Monday morning, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they've decided to place forwards Filip Chytil and Jonathan Lekkerimaki on injured reserve, retroactive to yesterday, but did not specify what injuries the pair are dealing with at this time.

With Chytil and Lekkerimaki being placed on injured reserve, that means they cannot return to the Vancouver Canucks' lineup for the next seven days (retroactive to Oct. 19th), with the next possible game the two could suit up for being Sunday, October 26th against the Edmonton Oilers or Tuesday, October 28th against J.T. Miller & the New York Rangers.

Chytil, a native of Kromeriz, Czechia, was off to a solid start to the 2025-26 season before his injury, registering three goals, six penalty minutes and had an even-rating in six games.

As for Jonathan Lekkerimaki, who found himself in the press box for back-to-back games recently, he's put up one goal and has an even-rating through four contests.

The Canucks will be back in action tomorrow night at 4 p.m. PT as they continue their road trip with a stop in Pittsburgh to face Arturs Silovs and the Penguins.
