Former Canuck Chris Tanev shows his character in generous act
Former Vancouver Canuck and current Dallas Star Chris Tanev was traded to Dallas from the Calgary Flames at the 2024 Trade Deadline. In response to shipping Tanev off to Texas, the Flames made a transaction, claiming former Stars defenseman Joel Hanley off of waivers. While not quite filling the void left by the highly sought-after Tanev, Hanley has since become a welcomed presence on Calgary's blue line.
Following the trade, Tanev, who had never met Hanley, contacted him with an offer he simply could not refuse: allowing Hanley, his wife, and two-year-old son to live at Tanev's Calgary home. Hanley, of course, accepted this commendable offer.
That was nice of him. Especially with a two-year-old they have a lot of toys and stuff over there, so it's been awesome.

Tanev, 34, recorded two goals and 19 points in 75 games this season, including one goal and five points in 19 games with the Dallas Stars.
Hanley finished the season with a lone goal and five points in 42 games, with his goal and one assist coming during his ten games with the Flames.
