Former Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller has been given a massive honour by GM Chris Drury & the New York Rangers ahead of the team's Centennial season.

The 2025-26 season is a big one for the New York Rangers and their fan base as they're one of three teams that'll be celebrating their Centennial this year, along with the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings.
Among those that'll be on the Rangers' roster for their Centennial is former Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller, who was traded to New York by General Manager Patrik Allvin following weeks of rumors about an alleged feud with Elias Pettersson.
As Miller gets set for his first training camp with New York since 2017 - the last year of his first stint with the club - the Rangers have given the 32-year-old forward a massive honour.

New York Rangers name former Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller captain

In a press release on their website on Tuesday morning, the New York Rangers announced that forward J.T. Miller has been named as the team's 29th captain in franchise history.
New York Rangers General Manager Chris Drury commented on the decision to give the 'C' to Miller, saying he embodies exactly what it means to be a captain both on and off the ice and that he quickly became a leader in the locker room after joining the club back at the end of January.
"We're pleased to announce J.T. Miller as the new captain of the New York Rangers. Since his arrival last season, J.T. immediately became a leader for our group and exemplifies how we want to conduct ourselves both on and off the ice. Congratulations to J.T. and his entire family on an incredibly meaningful achievement and we're confident he will continue to represent our organization with class, commitment, and integrity." Drury said.

Miller, a native of East Palestine, Ohio was drafted by the New York Rangers in the first round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and has gone on to appear in 871 games in the league with them, the Tampa Bay Lightning and Vancouver Canucks.
After being traded by the Canucks earlier this year, Miller finished the season strong in The Big Apple, registering 35 points (13 goals, 22 assists), 18 penalty minutes and was a minus-two in 32 games.
Miller's first regular season game with the 'C' on his sweater will come at home on Tuesday, October 7th against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
