It's confirmed for the Canucks and pending free agent Teddy Blueger
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin will have his hands full over the next several weeks as we lead up to the draft and unrestricted free agency.
The Canucks have a number of free agents on their roster, among those is Latvian forward Teddy Blueger, who joined Vancouver as a UFA in July 2023, signing a one-year contract.
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Vancouver Canucks have shown interest in bringing back Teddy Blueger and have already spoke with his agent about having him return to the team next season.
Pagnotta went on to add that Patrik Allvin and the Canucks plan to circle back on Teddy Blueger to talk about a new contract later this month. Right now, the Canucks have other free agents that they are trying to get under contract including Tyler Myers, Nikita Zadorov and Dakota Joshua.
"The Canucks have also shown interest in bringing back forward Teddy Blueger and have spoken to his agent, as well. But there are a lot of moving parts in Vancouver beyond him and Myers Nikita Zadorov, Dakota Joshua and Elias Lindholm are also pending UFAs, while Filip Hronek can hit RFA status July 1 and is in line for a big raise and the Canucks plan on circling back with Blueger later this month." Pagnotta said. Blueger, 29, skated in 68 games for the Canucks this season where he recorded 28 points (six goals, 22 assists), 31 penalty minutes and was a plus-four. In the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Riga native added two assists in 13 games.
With free agency set to open in 28 days, the Canucks are going to be very busy trying to retain some of their own UFAs and it wouldn't be shocking to see Blueger at least test the open market on July 1st. However, that doesn't mean a return to Vancouver is off the cards.
