When Tyler Myers first joined the Canucks ahead of the 2019-20 season, the expectations were high.

The 6'7 defenceman signed a 5 year deal worth $6 million per season after splitting the rest of his career between the Buffalo Sabres and Winnipeg Jets.
While the rangy defenceman has been the target of Canucks fans' criticism at many points through his career, the 2023-24 season has shifted the narrative around Tyler Myers.
On Friday's Sekeres and Price podcast, Canucks reporter Jeff Paterson joined the show and discussed Tyler Myers after his head coach Rick Tocchet singled him out for his play.
Paterson said it's somewhat ironic that during a contract where Myers was routinely pointed at as one of the league's most overpaid players, he's showcasing some of his best hockey as a Canuck when he's no longer collecting a paycheck.
At the end of a contract that was NEVER going to be able to be met in terms of value, Tyler Myers playing some of the best hockey of his career.

Paterson says he hasn't really been given the opportunity to showcase it in Vancouver until now, but he's a big player who is built for the playoffs.
Coming into the season, most Canucks fans were looking forward to watching Tyler Myers walk out the door as a free agent, but that tune has changed for many this year.
