LATEST | NHL just made an important announcement regarding Canucks' bench boss Rick Tocchet
The Vancouver Canucks' success to this point in the 2023-24 season can be attributed to many people within the organization, both on and off the ice.
Since joining the team in January 2023, Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet has changed the way they played and everyone has bought into his system, allowing them to become one of the best teams in the National Hockey League this season.
Over the last week, the writers at NHL.com have been voting on who they think should win awards following the conclusion of the 2023-24 season and for the Jack Adams Award, they've selected Rick Tocchet.
"Sustainable? Yes. Vancouver is 42-17-7 and contending for the Presidents' Trophy, given to the team with the best regular-season record in the NHL. That has Tocchet leading NHL.com voting for the Jack Adams Award at the three-quarters point of the season. A panel of 14 writers gave Tocchet 58 voting points, four for first place. Philadelphia Flyers coach John Tortorella received 40 votes, five for first. Paul Maurice of the Florida Panthers was third (32 votes, one for first)." NHL.com said.
In 102 games behind the bench for the Vancouver Canucks, Tocchet has 62 wins, 29 losses and 11 overtime/shootout losses. His 62 wins currently have him ninth all-time in franchise history, 33 wins wins back of Phil Maloney for eighth.
Tocchet has a long way to go this season as the Vancouver Canucks are hoping for a deep run into the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but he's certainly in the lead when it comes to winning the Jack Adams Award.
