Looks like Vancouver Canucks star Elias Pettersson could find himself on playoff team sooner rather than later

It has been a long time since the Buffalo Sabres have found themselves with a potential NHL playoff berth, but that is exactly what they have this season, however they need some center depth and Elias Pettersson of the Vancouver Canucks could provide that.
Pettersson has yet to waive his no-trade clause, but for the right destination he might just do that, and the Sabres are on the rise.
"While there's no guarantee he'll be on his way out of town before the March 6th deadline, Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson continues to draw interest from clubs around the National Hockey League, but his high salary and no-movement clause is going to make completing a trade very difficult."-Jaxon
Elias Pettersson could find himself on a playoff team in Buffalo.
Tim Daniels of SabreNoise reported on the growing rumours of a Pettersson trade to the Sabres. The idea becomes more intriguing the more the Sabres approach the playoffs. They currently hold the first wildcard position, and in a very tight Atlantic division they could easily move up.
"Buffalo general manager Jarmo Kekalainen finds himself in a tricky situation. He'd like to upgrade the roster, ideally with a top-six forward who can boost the power play and a depth defenseman, but he won't want to shake things up too much given the team's recent success. The Sabres have compiled a 20-3-1 record over their past 24 games to climb from the Eastern Conference basement into third place in the Atlantic Division. They are the NHL's hottest team, and winger Alex Tuch declared they're chasing a Stanley Cup."-Daniels
Pettersson could very well find his form again on a team with that much talent. The Sabres have a lot of players entering their prime years, and ready to compete. With a lot of the offensive pressure taken off him, he might actually reach the numbers he had a couple years ago. But nothing happens without Pettersson waiving his clause.
