The National Hockey League has announced the date which will determine the Vancouver Canucks' fate for the 2025 Entry Draft in Los Angeles, California.

Earlier this month, following Utah Hockey Club's loss to the St. Louis Blues, the Vancouver Canucks were were officially locked into the 15th spot in the lottery for the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.
It certainly wasn't the position the Vancouver Canucks were expecting to select as they were hoping for a deep run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, however that didn't end up happening and now we know when the team's draft fate will be determined.

National Hockey League announces date for 2025 Draft Lottery

On Tuesday afternoon, the National Hockey League, through their public relations website, announced that they will be holding the 2025 Draft Lottery at 4 pm PT on Monday, May 5th.
"The National Hockey League announced today the 2025 NHL Draft Lottery will be held on Monday, May 5, at NHL Network's Secaucus, N.J., studio. The event will be broadcast on ESPN, Sportsnet and TVA Sports, at a time to be announced later this week." the NHL said.

They added, "The 2025 NHL Draft Lottery will determine the order of selection for the first 16 picks in the first round of the 2025 Upper Deck NHL Draft. Participants are all teams that did not qualify for the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs (or the teams that have acquired the first-round drafting positions of those non-playoff teams)."

As mentioned, the Vancouver Canucks are currently in the 15th spot for the upcoming NHL Draft Lottery and while they have a zero percent chance of getting the first overall pick, they do have a very slim chance of moving up in the Entry Draft.
If the Vancouver Canucks were to win the NHL Draft Lottery next week, because of the rule stating teams can only move up ten spots, the highest they'll be able to select is fifth overall. However, the odds of that happening are 0.5 percent.
The San Jose Sharks (25.5%) have the best odds at getting the first overall pick, which they had in 2024 and used it to select North Vancouver native Macklin Celebrini.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Blackhawks (13.5%), Nashville Predators (11.5%), Philadelphia Flyers (9.5%) and Boston Bruins (8.5%) have the second through fifth best odds at landing the first overall pick.
Given where the Vancouver Canucks are likely to pick, some names to keep an eye on that Patrik Allvin could select are defenseman Kashawn Aitcheson (Barrie - OHL), forward Ben Kindel (Calgary - WHL) and forward Carter Bear (Everett - WHL).
