An Edmonton Oilers forward has been suggested as a potential trade target for Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks to consider leading up to the trade deadline.

Teams around the National Hockey League are going to be phoning up Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin over the next two-and-a-half weeks as they look to improve their respective rosters for a potential run towards the Stanley Cup.
It could be a very busy trade deadline for the Vancouver Canucks, as numerous players on their roster have been made available amid the club's plans to rebuild and get younger by acquiring prospects and/or draft picks.
"We are transitioning into a rebuild here, acquiring younger players through the draft. Obviously, the draft is really important for us. Since Jim and I got [here] three years ago, we've definitely always emphasized on getting younger." General Manager Patrik Allvin said about the Vancouver Canucks' rebuild recently.

Even though the Vancouver Canucks want to get younger and will be able to do so with ease, they also need to surround their youth with veterans that bring experience and leadership, something that they can draw from as they develop as a player in the NHL.
In a recent article for The Athletic looking at players Patrik Allvin could target at the deadline, Harman Dayal and Thomas Drance suggest forward Andrew Mangiapane from the Edmonton Oilers, who is having a bit of a down year in his return to Alberta and could be moved to free up cap space for a bigger move.
"Mangiapane isn’t as much of a slam-dunk bounce-back candidate as Foegele, but the former is probably a harder contract to trade right now, which means the Canucks would likely have a greater chance of netting a meaningful draft pick as a sweetener," Dayal and Drance said.

Mangiapane, 29, would bring plenty of experience to Vancouver, with 547 games in the National Hockey League under his belt after spending time with the Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals and now, the Edmonton Oilers.
Is Andrew Mangiapane a perfect trade target for the Canucks? No, but he has an additional year remaining on his contract and has a chance to bounce back, which if he did next season, Patrik Allvin could flip him for a decent asset ahead of the 2026-27 trade deadline.
In 49 games this season for the Oilers, the Toronto, Ontario native has registered 12 points (six goals, six assists), 36 penalty minutes and is a minus-21 while averaging 12:42 of ice time per night.
