Vancouver Canucks Officially Making All Players Avoid for Trade Other Than Captain Quinn Hughes

A National Hockey League insider has revealed some major news on Monday night about the availability of Vancouver Canucks veteran players on the trade market.
Vancouver's start to the 2025-26 season has led many to wonder if it's time to rebuild, after missing out on the Stanley Cup Playoffs in four of the last five seasons and having just three postseason appearances in the last 12 years.
"It's the third management team now that's singing the same song. We're going to retool, we're right there, we're almost there! We've seen over the past decade that it's not really almost there." Former Vancouver Canuck Jannik Hansen said recently.
While it's still quite unlikely that the Vancouver Canucks will tear it down completely and undergo a rebuild, some new information came out on Monday suggesting that the team is ready to make some trades and there aren't many untouchables on the NHL roster.
Vancouver Canucks reportedly listening to trade offers on veteran players
In an article for Sportsnet on Monday, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that the Vancouver Canucks are beginning to listen to trade offers on veteran players on their roster, but didn't specify which players are available.
"According to several sources, the Vancouver Canucks have let it be known that - in an effort to get younger - they are willing to listen to offers on 'veteran players.'" Friedman said.
One player that isn't available at this time is captain Quinn Hughes, who has had the most noise surrounding him of any player on the Canucks' roster because of his contract status and rumors about his future with the organization beyond the 2026-27 campaign, when he can become an unrestricted free agent.
Friedman also shared that Hughes' defensive partner, Filip Hronek, is another player that is unlikely to be traded by the Vancouver Canucks before the deadline on Friday, March 6th.
"They've made it clear (trading him) is not their priority right now," one executive said to Friedman. (Filip Hronek is another player teams feel is unlikely to go anywhere.)"
Even though Quinn Hughes and Filip Hronek are out of the question, it appears that Vancouver is going to be in the thick of trade rumors over the coming months based on Elliotte Friedman's report.
Looking at other names on Vancouver's roster that could potentially be up for grabs ahead of March 6th's deadline include pending unrestricted free agents Derek Forbort, Teddy Blueger, Kiefer Sherwood and Evander Kane, potentially even David Kampf, who the club just signed on November 15th.
If Patrik Allvin wants to make a bigger and more drastic move, it might be a bit tricky as players like Elias Pettersson, Brock Boeser, Jake DeBrusk, Marcus Pettersson and Tyler Myers all have no-movement clauses, as does goaltender Kevin Lankinen.
The next 101 days could be very busy for the Vancouver Canucks and as Elliotte Friedman pointed out, when Jim Rutherford and Patrik Allvin want to get something done, they never wait around, so we may end up getting news on the trade front sooner than expected.
