A new report has indicated which centerman trade target would be better suited for the Vancouver Canucks' roster for the upcoming 2025-26 NHL season.

We're just 59 days away from puck drop on the first Vancouver Canucks preseason contest and there's still some question marks surrounding the team's roster, especially down the middle and fans were quite pleased to hear last week that the club is not done adding, with their sights potentially set on a couple of big names.
Throughout the last six weeks, the Vancouver Canucks have been linked to two restricted free agents who are still unsigned as of July 24th - Marco Rossi, of the Minnesota Wild, who they made a trade offer to land back in mid-June, along with Mason McTavish, someone the team has shown interest in of late.
Both Marco Rossi and Mason McTavish would be solid additions to the Vancouver Canucks' lineup, ideally slotting in at that second line center position, but both will come at a very steep cost and if Patrik Allvin were to go all-in to acquire one of them, one reporter has shared which one that should be.

New report indicates which RFA center target would be best for Vancouver Canucks roster

In a recent article on The Hockey News, Adam Kierszenblat took a look at both Marco Rossi and Mason McTavish and shared who he thinks would be the best fit for the teams roster.
After examining what both players have done in their careers thus far, along with their strengths and weaknesses, Kierszenbladt believes that the better fit would be former third overall pick Mason McTavish.
"Ultimately, both Rossi and McTavish possess traits that could be beneficial to Vancouver's roster. Each scored at least 20 goals last season and project as long-term, second-line center options. Considering all the information above, the player who would be the better fit on the Canucks roster is McTavish." Kierszenblat said.

According to Patrick Johnston of The Province, the cost to acquire Mason McTavish is quite high and it might be even out of the Canucks' price range, even though they could put together a package featuring one of Jonathan Lekkerimaki or Tom Willander, along with a first round pick in either 2026 or 2027.
"Hence their continued interest in Roslovic, as well as their interest in Mason McTavish, the Anaheim Ducks' restricted free agent. Of course adding McTavish, the third-overall pick in the 2021 draft, will be very hard: he's a highly-regarded player with huge upside and will cost a big price in trade, perhaps more than the Canucks can afford." Johnston said.

There's still plenty of time to get a deal done between now and training camp, if the Ducks are truly open to moving on from the 22-year-old and it's going to be interesting to see if Vancouver can ultimately put together a package that Anaheim GM Pat Verbeek can't refuse.
