An insider believes that a former top-ten pick could be apart of a Quinn Hughes trade with the New Jersey Devils, if one were to be completed in the years ahead.

Trade rumors surrounding Quinn Hughes have been ongoing since April when Jim Rutherford made a comment about his captain's future with the club, saying it may not come down to money with him as he's mentioned he wants to play with his brothers Jack and Luke at some point during his career in the National Hockey League.
"It may not boil down to money with [Quinn]. He said before he wants to play with his brothers. That would be partly out of our control. In our control if we brought his brothers here." Rutherford said.

For weeks after Rutherford's comments, rumors about Hughes' future continued and he was constantly linked with a move to the linked with a move to the New Jersey Devils and hypothetically if that were to happen, it certainly would cost quite a bit to acquire the former Norris Trophy winner, but one insider has suggested an intriguing name that could be included in the deal.

During a recent addition of The Sheet with Jeff Marek, Greg Wyshynski of ESPN spoke about the possibility of Quinn Hughes being traded to the Devils, if New Jersey wanted to unite the three brothers.
While he didn't get too in-depth about what Vancouver could be looking at as a package, Wyshynski mentioned that the New Jersey Devils wouldn't be able to have both Quinn Hughes and former top-ten pick Dougie Hamilton on their roster, which would lead to the 32-year-old being dealt.
"If the Devils cut ties with Dougie [Hamilton], it would be in service of acquiring Quinn. Both of those things could not coexist in the roster at the same time." Wyshynski said.

He added, "But for me. Like if the end game is to unite the Hughes Triforce in New Jersey, Dougie Hamilton was not going to be on the roster when that happens."

Hamilton, a native of Toronto, Ontario, was selected 9th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and has gone on to record 501 points (151 goals, 350 assists) in 835 games with them, the Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes and New Jersey Devils.
While the Vancouver Canucks' priority is to have a strong 2025-26 season, make a deep run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and sign Quinn Hughes to an extension as of July 1st next year, if General Manager Patrik Allvin decided to move his captain to the Devils, Dougie Hamilton wouldn't be a horrible addition to the team's blue line.
