History was made Wednesday as Vancouver was officially announced as the seventh city to join the Professional Women's Hockey League.

Since the PWHL's launch in 2024, hockey fans in Vancouver have been eagerly calling for a team of their own on the West Coast. And now, they officially have one!

Vancouver's new PWHL expansion team will have their own practice facility before the Canucks.

The Agrodome is set to serve as the primary practice facility for Vancouver's PWHL team, with both PNE arenas receiving upgrades to their locker rooms and training areas in preparation for the team's arrival.
"The #PWHLVancouver has existed for 1 day and they already have a practice facility...🤷‍♀️"
Lachlan Irvine from the Canucks Army writes that the team will be owned by the Walter Group, following the league's single-entity ownership model that also governs its original six teams. Mark and Kimbra Walter, who lead the group, have made their mark across the sports world, they're also part of the ownership teams for Major League Baseball's Los Angeles Dodgers and Premier League club Chelsea FC.
"Things for PWHL Vancouver are already off to an incredibly hot start; premium membership deposits for season tickets have already sold out, with only general deposits left. But there's still lots to sort out before games get underway at the Pacific Coliseum for the 2025-26 season." -Irvine

As for the roster, the expansion draft rules are still being finalized, but it's likely that Vancouver's new team will be allowed to select one player from each of the Original Six teams. The same opportunity is expected to be given to the anticipated Seattle franchise, which will share the West Coast spotlight with Vancouver.
The Vancouver Canucks are backed by one of the NHL's most diverse, well-rounded, and passionate fanbases. Over the past 25 years, the women's game has been embraced just as warmly in Vancouver. Now, the city will be able to experience it first hand.
