Silovs was brilliant when he took over the Canucks' net in game three of the first round. During the three games he guarded the net, Silovs stopped 93.8% of the shots sent, managed a 1.7 goals against average and collected a shutout.
It doesn't end there for Silovs, the first game against the Oilers will allow Silovs the opportunity to become only the tired rookie netminder in Canucks history to collect three post season wins. A feat only Thatcher Demko and Cory Hirsch managed:
Silovs stepped up to the plate in the first round, and just like any rookie taking the net in the playoffs, he'll be doubted every step of the way. The young Latvian proved that he could handle the pressure, closing the door on the Predators when the series was at stake, but will he be able to shut down one of the NHL's best offences?
It's fair to assume that the way Silovs handles his net in the upcoming days will play a significant factor in Casey DeSmith's future with the Canucks, as he is set to be an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.
