Prior to Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final last night, the National Hockey League made an announcement regarding Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes.

Despite missing 14 games due to injury this season, Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes still had a solid campaign and did all he could to keep his team in the mix for a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs before being mathematically eliminated one week before their final game.
For his efforts, Hughes won six team awards back in April, including MVP, and earned himself a nomination for the Norris Trophy, finished third in voting behind this year's winner, Cale Makar, and runner-up Zach Werenski.

National Hockey League makes big announcement on Vancouver Canucks' Quinn Hughes

This year, the National Hockey League went away from their traditional awards show, usually held in Las Vegas, and did things a bit differently, surprising the winners of each trophy with the help of their family and friends and put it all together for a 30-minute program ahead of Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final on Thursday evening.
Along with those traditional awards, such as the Hart Trophy, Vezina Trophy, Norris Trophy, among other, the National Hockey League also reveals the First and Second All-Star Teams, along with the All-Rookie Team.
In a post on social media, the National Hockey League announced that Quinn Hughes has been named to the Second All-Star Team for the 2024-25 season, joining Victor Hedman (Tampa Bay Lightning), Brandon Hagel (Tampa Bay Lightning), Leon Draisaitl (Edmonton Oilers), David Pastrnak (Boston Bruins) and Andrei Vasilevskiy (Tampa Bay Lightning).

Quinn Hughes landed 47 first place votes, but it wasn't good enough for the First All-Star Team, as Cale Makar and Zach Werenski occupied those two spots for this season.
This marks Quinn Hughes' first time being named to the NHL's Second All-Star Team, after being on the First All-Star Team last year, when he took home the Norris Trophy.
"Joining the Lightning trio is right wing David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins, a returnee from last year's Second Team; center Leon Draisaitl of the Edmonton Oilers, who earned Second Team honors in 2022-23; and defenseman Quinn Hughes of the Vancouver Canucks, making his Second Team debut." the NHL said.

Shortly after the National Hockey League's announcement, the Vancouver Canucks took to social media to congratulate their captain on the well-deserved honor.
"Shining brightest across the league 💫

Congrats to Captain Quinn Hughes on being named to the 2024.25 NHL Second All-Star Team!" the Canucks said.
Hughes, a native of Orlando, Florida, finished the 2024-25 campaign with 75 points (16 goals, 60 assists), 29 penalty minutes and was a plus-two in 68 games.
