Tonight, the Canucks will have an opportunity to advance to the Western Conference Final for the first time since 2011 and if they are to do so, Quinn Hughes will be relied on heavily by Head Coach Rick Tocchet. Thankfully for Tocchet, Hughes has been extremely clutch when it comes to series-clinching games.
In a post on social media, the National Hockey League announced that Quinn Hughes needs one more point to tie Canucks franchise history for the most points in potential clinching games. There is currently a three-way tie for first - Alexander Edler (5 points in 14 games), Dave Babych (5 points in 9 games), Jyrki Lumme (5 points in 9 games). Meanwhile, Quinn Hughes has four points in five potential clinching games in his young career.
So far in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Hughes has recorded nine assists and six penalty minutes in 11 games after putting up 92 points (17 goals, 75 assists) in 82 games during the regular season. His strong season saw him named as one of the three finalists for the Norris Trophy.
Hughes and the Canucks have a massive opportunity ahead of them on Saturday night and one that could see them take a big step towards their first Stanley Cup in franchise history. Puck drop for Game 6 is set for 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on CBC and Sportsnet.
