The Vancouver Canucks are currently in a tight spot when it comes to attracting free-agents and other NHL clubs to make a deal, and NHL.com has highlighted what the team still needs to do in order to compete in 2025-26.

A lot of headlines and are eyes watching what the Canucks do this offseason, especially after the insane drama between J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson plagued the 2024-25 season.
The team did make some big changes by hiring Adam Foote as Head Coach and trading for controversial forward Evander Kane on the first day of free-agency, but that is clearly not enough to make the 2025-26 playoffs.
Obviously, the pressure is still on, and there is a lot more to do in order to get the roster upgraded before the season commences.
This is exactly what NHL.com made sure to reinforce by highlighting the comments made by general manager Patrik Allvin at the end of year press conference.
«From an outside perspective, obviously a lot of things went wrong. When you talk to the players, for different circumstances and reasons with injuries and all that, they're looking back and there were pockets when we were healthy and we played really good hockey, ended up with 90 points, and they understand this is something we continue to work on. I do believe they see the process of younger players in Abbotsford, what's coming in the pipeline, and Vancouver is a fantastic market to play in, and Adam (Foote) and the new coaching staff have done a really good job interacting with players here up to this point. So the belief is there.» -- general manager Patrik Allvin

At the end of the day, the Canucks do not have a lot of incentives to work with when it comes to trying to attract free-agents to sign in Vancouver, their only hope is that they shed another contract to acquire a solid UFA like Victor Olofsson or Jack Roslovic.
