"No One Wants Him" - Don Cherry Rips Vancouver Canucks Forward Elias Pettersson

Former Coaches Corner analyst Don Cherry had some bold words today regarding Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson, saying that nobody wants him.
Don Cherry was a staple in the homes of families across Canada for 37 years as a member of Coaches Corner on Hockey Night in Canada every Saturday night until 2019, when he was fired for offensive comments made during a broadcast.
In the six years since, Cherry hasn't been in the spotlight much, but has his own podcast called "Don Cherry's Grapevine", where fans can listen to what the 90-year-old has to say about current topics in the game of hockey.
Don Cherry says nobody would want to acquire Elias Pettersson
"Nobody would want him. He's the third-highest [paid player in the NHL] he had one good year." Cherry said.
For someone making $11.6 million per season, Elias Pettersson has certainly not played up to that mark in 2024-25, registering just 30 points (11 goals, 19 assists) in 42 games entering action on Monday.
Dating back to March 1st of last season, including games played during the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Sundsvall, Sweden native has just 19 goals, which simply isn't good enough for a player who's supposed to be an elite first-line centerman in the National Hockey League.
Cherry later went on to share how he would deal with the reported feud between Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller, saying that he would simply not play either of them and send them home.
"Send them home. That's the only way you can [deal with it]. Send them home," Cherry said.
