Should Zary be suspended for this play?
Right away, analysts and fans were asking if Zary would be suspended for this play, and the NHL Department of Player Safety has ultimately decided that 2 games is the punishment for the crime.
"On this play Zary sees a teammate takes a hard but legal check and responds intentionally in retribution by delivering a hit with an extended elbow which makes significant head contact," says the NHL DOPS.
Due to his absence without pay, the 23-year-old will be forced to forfeit $8,993.06.
