Patrik Allvin had been poking around on the goaltenders market for an insurance policy due to the uncertainty behind Thatcher Demko and he finally reached an agreement with his top candidate.
Allvin just announced that the team had agreed on a one year deal with the former Predators' netminder Kevin Lankinen.
The Canucks had been poking at Lankinen for some time, the netminder was reportedly holding out to get more money on his deal, but he eventually broke and signed with the Canucks:
Thatcher Demko is still sidelined with a lower body injury and should be able to return mid to late October. Signing Lankinen gives the Canucks depth, insurance and time for Demko to properly heal and not rush back like he's done in the past.
A great value deal for the Canucks, they may have to roll with three goaltenders or send one of Silovs or Lankinen down to Abbotsford once Demko is good to go.
