The Canucks' GM Patrik Allvin made the announcement earlier that the team came to an agreement with their six foot six prospect Vilmer Alriksson.
Allvin commented on the signing of the 19-year-old prospect:
Alriksson dominated through the young star event and his progression through main camp has been impressive. A versatile forward who excels in puck progression, he'll definitely have an opportunity to take his game to the professional level, whether it's this year or the next.
The big winger played with the Guelph Storm last season and through 67 games, scored 17 goals and totaled 33 points. At this moment, the belief is that he'll be headed back to the OHL to perfect his game and gain confidence on North American ice.
The way things are trending, he may be seeing more pre-season action since the Canucks still have three games before they officially open their season. Allvin will have more announcement to make as the team nears their season debut, they'll need their roster down to 23 men by then.
We'll be keeping you posted on the Canucks' latest roster moves.
