Patrik Allvin has reportedly identified his replacement for Sam Lafferty
The Vancouver Canucks received solid minutes from Sam Lafferty in the bottom six, but the 29-year-old is likely to receive offers paying him more than the Canucks can afford.
They'll be looking for a speedy, energy player to put in that spot, however, and Rick Dhaliwal of the Donnie and Dhali show says former Canuck Tyler Motte may just be fit for that spot.
He is the kind of player that Patrik Allvin has discussed adding in the offseason.
Motte will be cheap and bring forth line speed; Allvin talked about getting faster; what does Motte bring? Speed.
Of his 400 NHL games played, Motte spent the most significant chunk with Vancouver between 2017-18 and 2021-22 before a trade to the Rangers; he spent last season in Tampa Bay with 9 points in 69 games.
Dhaliwal says the Canucks didn't want to lose him and offered him a contract before ultimately dealing him, but that there will be interest in a reunion.
Fans hope to see more prominent names come to Vancouver, but keep an eye out for Motte as a lower-cost addition on July 1.
