The Florida Panthers won their first Stanley Cup in franchise history on Monday night and a few members of the organization are former Canucks, most notably Roberto Luongo and Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

Florida took down the Edmonton Oilers in Game 7 by a score of 2 to 1 and after the game, former Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo spoke with Sportsnet and thanked the fan base in Vancouver for their support.

"I just wanna thank, especially the people of Vancouver for their supportI always enjoy going back there and I look forward to going back there next season." Luongo said.

If there's anyone that Canucks fans should be happy for in this year's Stanley Cup victory it's Roberto Luongo. He was never able to do this during his incredible playing career, getting ever so close in 2011 with the Canucks but now as part of the Panthers' management group, he got his chance to raise the Stanley Cup and will have his name engraved on hockey's greatest trophy.

"Roberto Luongo finally wins the Stanley Cup! 🏆"

Luongo spent eight years of his NHL career with the Vancouver Canucks and they were some of the most successful seasons he had, helping propel him to fourth on the all-time goalie wins list. During his time in Vancouver, Luongo was a two-time All-Star and was given the Cyclone Taylor Award twice as Canucks MVP.

While the Panthers are focused on celebrating their Stanley Cup championship, for good reason, there will be some big off-ice decision to be made in the coming days as two of their best players, Sam Reinhart and Brandon Montour, are set to become unrestricted free agents at 12 pm ET on Canada Day.
