A potential center target has emerged for the Vancouver Canucks this summer as Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford look for help down the middle for the 2025-26 campaign.

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin is going to have a lot on his plate during the offseason as the team will look to make some big additions to their lineup to avoid missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs for a second consecutive season.
As everyone knows by now, the Vancouver Canucks are hoping to add a second line centerman to their roster, someone that can play behind Elias Pettersson in the role that was previously occupied by J.T. Miller prior to his trade to the New York Rangers.

13-year NHL veteran named as potential center option for Vancouver Canucks

In recent weeks, a number of different centermen have been named as options for the Vancouver Canucks and Patrik Allvin to consider heading into the summer, including Marco Rossi, Trevor Zegras, Brayden Schenn, among others.
In an article on The Athletic, Harman Dayal and Thomas Drance took a look at some more players that the team could target and who could end up being good fits for Vancouver.
Dayal and Drance mention 13-year National Hockey League veteran Jean-Gabriel Pageau, who is currently with the New York Islanders, as a player Patrik Allvin could take a look at this offseason.
The two added that while Pageau might not be the ideal second line centerman the team would like to acquire, he would still be a serviceable option for the organization.
"Pageau only has one-year remaining on his current contract, and a 16-team no-trade list. If he were willing to come to Vancouver, he'd bring a ton of credibility, utility and experience to the Canucks' forward group, even if he isn't really the 'top-two line centre' that Vancouver would ideally identify and acquire this summer." Dayal and Drance said.

Pageau, a native of Ottawa, Ontario, was drafted by the Senators in the fourth round back in 2011 and appeared in 428 games for his hometown team across parts of eight seasons.
This year with the New York Islanders, the 32-year-old registered 42 points (14 goals, 28 assists), which is the second-highest single-season total of his NHL career, along with 23 penalty minutes and was a plus-four in 79 games.
While the Vancouver Canucks may consider Jean-Gabriel Pageau this summer, if they aren't on his no-trade list, it seems pretty unlikely that he'll be at the top of the team's wishlist, with Patrik Allvin looking to add someone who will bring a bit more of an offensive punch to the lineup.
