The Canucks were out to shop on a budget when free agency opened, and with their numerous acquisitions, the hopes and expectations have never been higher heading into the 2024-2025 campaign.

With holes to fill in their forward group and Allvin making it clear they'd be looking to add scoring depth, the Canucks were out-shopping for three forwards. The Canucks and the biggest of their acquisition Jake Debrusk have been receiving a load of attention, but the player who took the hometown discount, Danton Heinen, has been flying under the radar.

On Sekeres and Price earlier, Ray Ferraro addressed the addition of Heinen to Tocchet's group of forward and praised the Canucks for the way they managed their spendings and built their roster.

.@rayferraro21 on Danton Heinen:

"He should be a 40-point guy...fast, he's smart, he has a good shot...a middle-six player...he's a legit producer...he should give him them pop and speed." #Canucks

The Canucks were looking to add depth scoring, versatility and speed to their line-up. Heinen fits that description like a glove, a winger who can be used on the team's four lines, he'll be an excellent match to any one of Tocchet's duos.

Heinen signed a two-year deal worth $4.45M and could turn into a Swiss knife, just like Pius Suter was for the Canucks last year.
