Report: Trade Talks Intensify Between Vancouver Canucks & Boston Bruins
As the trade deadline quickly approaches, trade talks between the Vancouver Canucks and an Eastern Conference team are reportedly heating up.
Ever since it was revealed by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman that the Vancouver Canucks are exploring the trade market for J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson, numerous teams have been in contact with General Manager Patrik Allvin.
Among the teams that have reportedly been in contact with the Vancouver Canucks include the New York Islanders according to Stefan Rosner, but it looks like the Boston Bruins are also in the mix with trade talks picking up.
"I don't know who for sure, but I know the Bruins want to get deeper and younger up the middle and not older," an executive told Marco D'Amico of RG.org. "That seems like Pettersson, but it's not about who they want; it's about who the Canucks decide to move on from." While one source said to D'Amico that he doesn't believe the Boston Bruins have the assets and cap space to make a deal for either J.T. Miller or Elias Pettersson, another mentions Mason Lohrei, Matt Poitras, Trent Frederic, and Pavel Zacha as potential options for Patrik Allvin and the Canucks.
"This belief aligns with the one held by the executive source, who postulates that the Bruins would have to offer the Canucks some combination of defenseman Mason Lohrei and forwards Matt Poitras, Trent Frederic, and Pavel Zacha." Jonathan Bailey of The Canuck Way said. Action on the trade market is expected to pick up in the coming weeks, with some NHL executives believing it'll truly heat up once the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off wraps up on February 20th, leaving teams just 15 days to make some big decisions with their rosters.
We'll have to wait and see what Patrik Allvin has up his sleeve and if he decides to move either Swedish star forward Elias Pettersson or J.T. Miller, or if he opts to stand pat when it comes to the duo.
