A former Vancouver Canucks defenseman is reportedly available on the trade market this summer as the New York Rangers look to make some big changes to their roster.

While the Vancouver Canucks are hoping to make a splash this summer, with the need for a second line centerman and potentially a top-six winger, they certainly won't be the only team that'll be looking to make some noise on the trade and free agent markets.
After a disappointing season of their own, changes are expected in The Big Apple this offseason, with names like Chris Kreider, K'Andre Miller and Mika Zibanejad potentially available, but it appears that a former Vancouver Canuck may also be on the trade block.

Former Vancouver Canucks defenseman reportedly available for trade

In an article on The Athletic this week, James Mirtle reported that the New York Rangers might be looking to make some tweaks on the blue line, with former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Carson Soucy potentially available.
"On paper, they have around $8 million to spend, which is why the Rangers are likely to be active in the trade market. Veteran Chris Kreider has been on the block for more than six months, but teams are saying New York could also shake up its blue line, with Miller and Carson Soucy potentially available." Mirtle said.

Mirtle's report lines up with what his colleague at The Athletic, Arthur Staple, shared over the weekend, that the New York Rangers may only have three untouchables heading into the summer - Igor Shesterkin, Adam Fox and Artemi Panarin.
Soucy, 30, was traded to the New York Rangers by General Manager Patrik Allvin back in March for a 2025 third round pick, putting an end to his year-and-a-half tenure with the Vancouver Canucks.
However, Soucy's time with the New York Rangers likely didn't go as he was expecting as he found himself in the press box as a healthy scratch on a handful of occasions and also saw a two-minute reduction in ice time per game when compared to his time in Vancouver prior to the trade this season.
The left-shot defenseman would be a solid third-pairing defenseman for any teams in the National Hockey League this summer including the Boston Bruins, Columbus Blue Jackets and the Philadelphia Flyers, the latter of which would reunite him with his former Head Coach, Rick Tocchet.
