With the team in the hunt and fighting for a playoff spot, the deadline was there opportunity to really show to the players and fans that they are all in making a run.
Unfortunately, the exact opposite occurred as the Canucks failed to make a single trade to help their team and new details of a failed trade between the Canucks and Ottawa Senators for Quinn Hughes' best friend Josh Norris has come to the surface.
Due to his connection with Hughes, his incredible talent and Rick Tocchet's desire for the team to acquire him, NHL insider Darren Dreger revealed that they were super close on finalizing a trade.
New details on what the return package for Norris was also disclosed..
During an interview with Sekeres and Price on Monday, Dreger added context.

«The Canucks were pretty close on Josh Norris with the Ottawa Senators at the time,» said Dreger. «It would have been Filip Chytil and it would have been a draft pick that would have gone way of the Ottawa Senators. I don't know why that came unglued.»

Dreger added that Norris was a player that Rick Tocchet really liked, and that he fit their system and style of play.

Ultimately, the trade fell through and Norris was subsequently sent to the Buffalo Sabres for Dylan Cozens soon after.
Although he struggled to stay healthy during his five-year career, with the Sens and never seeing more than 66 games in a single-season, the star centre has shown his tremndous talent.
If he is able to stay healthy, he really can blossom into a full blown superstar.
