Roberto Luongo shares his unorthodox celebration with the Stanley Cup
When the Florida Panthers defeated the Edmonton Oilers in game seven, everybody Canucks fan felt relieved since it meant that Roberto Luongo had finally won the Stanley Cup.
The tradition states that over the summer, each player and staff member gets to spend a day with the Cup. The former Canuck netminder got to take hockey's holy grail back in his hometown of St. Leonard, QC and spend a day with it.
Unorthodox celebrating for Luongo
The Quebecor chose to share the cup with his close one and one of Quebec's traditional meal, the poutine. However, Luongo adopted a little change, poutine is usually a mix of fries, gravy and cheese. The former Canucks swapped the fries for gnocchi and the result seemed extraordinary. The NHL shared a post on their X' page in regards to it:
The Panthers managed to keep the majority of their strong core.
