"I was in Hartford at the time, in the Rangers organization. We were playing in Laval and I was actually getting ready for a game, like I was on the ice warming up and after warm ups, my coach pulled me aside and just said like 'hey, you're not dressing tonight, you're not going to play'. Usually when I'd go up and down, they would kind of tell you right away, like 'hey, you're going up, this is happening' and he didn't say anything, so I was a little confused. He's just like 'this is a decision from the management, that's all I know'." Mancini said.
He added, "Next thing I know, I'm getting undressed, I'm looking at my phone and I've got buddies sending me tweets from Elliotte Friedman and all those insiders and they're like 'is this true?' and at the time I'm like 'I don't know'.
So just for me, it felt like I was wanted in the Canucks organization, so that made me feel really at ease. You kind of go from this sense of unease to comfort almost and excitement and I was on a plane the next day to Vancouver and the rest is history I guess."
