As the Vancouver Canucks are currently fighting for the final wild cars spot in the west, a source close to the team has hinted that there is a strong possibility that Captain Quinn Hughes does not play the rest of his career in Vancouver.

The report was brought up by Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal on the Sportsnet 590 The FAN radio show that Rick Tocchet now has a decision to make if he is going to want to continue as the leader behind the bench.
«Tocchet's franchise goalie has 4 injuries in 11 months, his franchise defenceman could leave in two years, his franchise centre is on pace for 50 points He's got a decision to make.»

Is Quinn Highes going to follow Rick Tocchet out of Vancouver?

During the same show, it was brought up that Quinn Hughes' future with the team could also be at risk as his contract expires at the end of the 2027 NHL season.
As the reigning Norris Trophy Winner, voted as the leagues best defenseman, another one can be joining his mantle case this season and when his contract does expire, the bidding war for his services is going to be crazy.
The Canucks may not be able to keep him, especially if they plan on entering a rebuild, which a player of his caliber is 100% confirmed not interested in doing as he wants a chance at the ultimate prize and winning the Stanley Cup.
The fact of the matter is, it is already public that he wants to play with his brothers Jack and Luke Hughes on day and the hard seasons ahead could push him there a lot sooner than expected.
He'll be the NHL's highest-paid defenseman, no matter where he goes. And whispers are swirling: could a reunion with his brothers in New Jersey be on his mind? It's a tantalizing possibility.

No one says he is immediately packing his bags, but if the team or their other big stars to make major strides in the coming seasons, it could be the end for Hughes as the Captain of the Vancouver Canucks.
