A Stanley Cup contender has been mentioned as a potential landing spot for Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood leading up to the NHL's trade deadline.

We're nearly three months away from the National Hockey League's trade deadline, which is set for Friday, March 6th at 12 p.m. PT, and as rumors start to ramp up, one name to keep an eye on is Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood.
Over the last week, Kiefer Sherwood is drawing interest from several teams around the league including the Boston Bruins and his hometown Columbus Blue Jackets, but it's going to cost a steep price to acquire him as reports indicate the Vancouver Canucks are seeking a first round pick, as well as another asset, in return.
"I am hearing it's a first round pick plus for Kiefer Sherwood." The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta said last week.

In a recent article for Sportsnet, Adam Vingan examined four potential landing spots for Kiefer Sherwood ahead of the trade deadline and one team he mentions is the Tampa Bay Lightning, who currently have a three-point lead over the Montreal Canadiens for first place in the Atlantic Division.
"Tampa Bay Lightning: After a 1-4-2 start, the Lightning have won 15 of 18 to take the Atlantic Division lead. Tampa Bay has a history of paying premium prices for depth forwards, such as Blake Coleman and Barclay Goodrow in 2020, as well as Jeannot in 2023. Last season, the Lightning traded two first-round picks to acquire forwards Yanni Gourde and Oliver Bjorkstrand from the Seattle Kraken. (Tampa Bay has a second-round pick in the 2026 draft that could be used to acquire Sherwood.)" Vingan said.

He added, "There are relative unknowns - Gage Goncalves, Curtis Douglas and Dominic James - scattered across the Lightning's forward lineup. Sherwood could bring valuable experience as Tampa Bay gears up for another run at the Stanley Cup."

Among the other teams Vingan mentions as options for Kiefer Sherwood are the Boston Bruins, New York Islanders and Philadelphia Flyers, the latter of whom would reunite him with his former Head Coach in Vancouver, Rick Tocchet.
With the amount of teams in the mix for Kiefer Sherwood growing by the day, it could potentially lead to a bidding war, which will drive up the price and will almost guarantee that General Manager Patrik Allvin will land that first round pick he covets.
