The Canucks have important players to re-sign or replace, Filip Hronek, Elias Lindholm, Nikita Zadorov and Dakota Joshua are at the top of the list. With the hope of gaining cap space Patrik Allvin has been shopping Ilya Mikheyev since the Canucks' season ended.
After signing the winger on free agency to a 4-year-deal at $4.5M, Allvin is now trying to shave off the two remaining years. Frank Seravalli was on Sekeres and Price to address the Canucks' line of thought and how the market is developing for them. Teams have shown interest in taking the winger, but the Canucks are going to have to pay to get trade away his contract:
After suffering a knee injury during tbe 2022-2023 season, his first season in Vancouver; Mikheyev has, since then, produced 31 points through 78 games.
The Canucks will now have to figure out what their best play is from there. Should they wait until and try to turn him around? Should they retain salary? Or should they pay the required price to dump him on another team?
