No veteran is safe on the Vancouver Canucks right now, with their plan to get younger, they are all available for trade as per their rebuild, but the Canucks will have to move fast if they want to make a deal with Conor Garland.
Garland enters a no-movement clause on July 1st, so if the Canucks want to trade him, now is the time.
"Dhaliwal went on to add that if a trade is to occur in 2026 featuring Conor Garland, it will have to happen either before the deadline on Friday, March 6th or around the NHL Entry Draft as after July 1st, Patrik Allvin's options will be severely limited due to that aforementioned no-movement clause."-Jaxon
Vancouver Canucks need to work fast with Conor Garland.
Dave Jenkins of NHL Trade Rumour reported on the urgency the Canucks need to carry with Garland, to avoid losing the chance to trade him. Garland has already expressed he does not want to leave Vancouver, so it is likely he will not get traded after July 1st.
"In my opinion, you should expect Garland to be a primary trade candidate immediately after the Olympic break concludes on February 22. The Canucks are seemingly motivated to move him not because they dislike the player, but because they cannot afford to be locked into that NMC if they want roster flexibility during a retool."-Jenkins
The Canucks have nothing to lose at this point, Garland isn't going to turn losses into wins, so trading him for a decent return is the best foot forward. There are lots of teams interested in him, so the Canucks are bound to get some good assets for him.
