The Vancouver Canucks May Be Facing Serious Legal Trouble After Breaking Provincial Law
When it rains it pours rings more true now more than ever as the Vancouver Canucks could be facing some serious legal trouble after it was reported they are breaking the law when it comes to their job postings.
Now, they could be hit with another obstacle, this time getting in trouble with the law.
Vancouver Canucks' job opportunity offers are breaking the law
Last week the Canucks made a social media post that was advertising the opportunities to work for their favourite team as apart of their social media team.
But, new information has come to light that they are actually breaking the law when it comes to their job postings.
As it stands right now, there are 13 postings/opportunities to work for the Canucks in their Service, Sales, Marketing, and Administration sectors.
The issue is, the Canucks are being secretive and refuse to disclose how much each job pays, which is breaking provincial law.
B.C.'s Pay Transparency Act, which became law on May 11, 2023, requires all employers in British Columbia to «include the expected pay or pay range in all public job postings.»
When reached for comment, B.C.'s Ministry of Finance confirmed that the Canucks' job postings were required to show pay information.
«Job postings from this employer are subject to B.C.'s Pay Transparency Act,» they said. «The Ministry of Finance's Gender Equity Office (GEO) has reached out to this employer regarding its job posting practices and to remind them of their obligations under the Act.»
Right now, the remainder is all they are getting, but if they refuse to post the salaries moving forward, or don't update their postings, then they could be hit some more serious legal action.
