A new report indicates that The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly "ready to pounce" on signing Anaheim Ducks Star Mason McTavish if the team doesn't decide to re-sign him.
One thing rings true more than ever this offseason for the Vancouver Canucks is that they need to bring in some young talent in order to not have what happened during the 2024-2025 season repeat itself.
Due to many factors that are within and not within their control, the the Vancouver Canucks are going to have many challenges this offseason as they are hit with a setback in enticing players to want to sign here
Vancouver Canucks reportedly pursuing Mason McTavish from the Anaheim Ducks
With the Canucks lacking up the center of the ice, especially with Brock Boeser hitting the open market, they will need a lot of help next year, and one name that has been coming up a lot in conversation is Ducks Star Mason McTavish.
NHL writer Joe Yerdon of Bleacher Report has linked the two together.
"It would be a massive long shot for the Anaheim Ducks to not bring back Mason McTavish, but if there were a contract impasse, Vancouver should be ready to pounce on him in a heartbeat.
McTavish is an outstanding scorer and plays the game decisively in all areas. He's the kind of player every team would be lining up out the door to talk to if he were available."

Now to be clear, Mason McTavish is a restricted free-agent and the Anaheim ducks would be absolutely insane to not re-sign him to a long-term contract as he is apart of the core that the team is looking to build around.
In 2024-2025, McTavish put up career best numbers, scoring 22 goals and 30 assists for 52 points and a plus/minus of 0 in 76 games, proving he can be a huge offensive and defensive contributor on a bottom of the barrel team.
