The verdict is in for Vancouver Canucks defencemen Jett Woo and Guillaume Brisebois.

On Thursday, the Vancouver Canucks made the decision to place Jett Woo and Guillaume Brisebois on waivers in order to assign them down to Abbotsford in the American Hockey League.

The move wasn't too shocking, other than the timing of it. We thought Brisebois and Woo may have played in one of either Friday or Saturday's game before being on waivers, but it came a bit early. Both players were Abbotsford bound regardless of when it happened because there's no room for them currently on the Canucks' roster in the NHL.

In a social media post this afternoon, the Vancouver Canucks announced that Jett Woo and Guillaume Brisebois have both cleared waivers and will be assigned to Abbotsford in the AHL.

Brisebois, 27, has had a tough time with injuries over the last couple of seasons including a concussion that he sustained during last year's training camp, resulting in him missing almost the entire 2023-24 season. The Longueuil, Quebec native was able to make it back near the end of the season, appearing in eight games for AHL Abbotsford where he failed to register any points and had an even-rating.

Woo, a native of Winnipeg, was a second-round pick of the Canucks back in 2018 and has spent the last four seasons in the American Hockey League with Abbotsford, but has made some big strides in his development. If an injury occurs at any point this season, it wouldn't be surprising to see him called up to make his NHL debut. In 62 games with Abbotsford last season, the 24-year-old registered 31 points (seven goals, 24 assists), 93 penalty minutes and had an even-rating.

The Canucks will continue their preseason schedule on Friday night as they travel to Seattle's Climate Pledge Arena to take on the Kraken. Puck drop is set for 7 pm PT and can be watched through a live stream on the Vancouver Canucks' website.
