Vancouver Canucks prospect Aiden Celebrini reportedly made a big decision on where he plans on playing for the 2025-26 season season.
The Vancouver Canucks' prospect pools boasts plenty of talent and while it might not be as deep as other teams around the National Hockey League, they still have a few high-end players including Tom Willander.
One of Vancouver's prospects who's a bit under the radar is Aiden Celebrini and last month,
rumors circulated about his plans for next season, which looked to be confirmed earlier his week.
Aiden Celebrini not joining the Vancouver Canucks next season
In post on X on Monday, Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie & Dhali reported that Aiden Celebrini will be heading back to Boston University for a third season and will not be signing an entry-level contract with the Vancouver Canucks this summer.
"Canucks 6th round pick in 2023, defenseman Aiden Celebrini will not be signing with the #Canucks and will be heading back to college next year." Dhaliwal said.
While Celebrini has taken big strides in his defensive play during the 2024-25 season and helped Boston University
advance to the Frozen Four where they'd eventually lose to Western Michigan University in the championship game, going back for a third year will help his development in a significant way and will help him get ready for the jump to professional hockey, potentially as soon as April 2026.
Some Vancouver Canucks fans have been worrying about whether or not Aiden Celebrini would even sign with the team or if he'll wait to become a free agent to go elsewhere, but for now there's nothing to worry about as the organization holds his exclusive signing rights until August 15th, 2027.
Celebrini, a native of North Vancouver, British Columbia, appeared in 31 games this season for Boston University where he registered eight points (two goals, six assists), 14 penalty minutes and was a plus-eight.
Despite heading back to the NCAA for a third season, fans won't have to wait too long to see Aiden Celebrini don the Canucks' colours as there's a very good chance he'll be with the club for their development camp in early July.
