A trade proposal has emerged this month that would send pending unrestricted free agent Kiefer Sherwood to the Vancouver Canucks' biggest rival.

The next couple of months are set to be very busy for the Vancouver Canucks after General Manager Patrik Allvin and President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford decided to make forward Kiefer Sherwood and other pending unrestricted free agents on their roster available on the NHL's trade market.
"According to several sources, the Vancouver Canucks have let it be known that - in an effort to get younger - they are willing to listen to offers on 'veteran players.'" Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman said.

A new report out last week indicated that six teams are currently in the mix for Kiefer Sherwood, including fellow Canadian club, the Ottawa Senators.
"The Ottawa Citizen's Bruce Garrioch reports that six NHL teams have "kicked the tires" on a trade for Sherwood:

Boston Bruins
Dallas Stars
New York Islanders
Ottawa Senators
Philadelphia Flyers
Tampa Bay Lightning" Billy Heyen of The Sporting News said.

Aside from those six teams mentioned by Bruce Garrioch, there have been some other clubs mentioned in rumors regarding Kiefer Sherwood lately and a recent trade proposal from Heavy.com would send the Vancouver Canucks winger to the team's biggest rival - the Edmonton Oilers.
In his article, Michael DeRosa proposes a deal between Edmonton and Vancouver that would see the Oilers land Kiefer Sherwood, while Patrik Allvin and the Canucks acquire a first round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft, a sixth round pick in 2026 and veteran centerman Mattias Janmark.
"While the Oilers made some major changes to their roster, they should not be done yet. When looking at their forward group, it is clear that they still could use another impactful winger. One trade candidate who stands out as a very intriguing option for the Oilers to consider is Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood.

Oilers Get:
- Kiefer Sherwood

Canucks Get:
-2027 First-Round Pick
-2026 Seventh-Round Pick
- Mattias Janmark" DeRosa said.

With rumors floating around last week suggesting that the asking price for Kiefer Sherwood has dropped, this wouldn't be a horrible return for the Columbus, Ohio native, however after the Evander Kane trade not working out in their favour, same with one involving Vasily Podkolzin in the summer of 2024, Patrik Allvin might be a bit hesitant in doing another deal with the Edmonton Oilers.
