The Vancouver Canucks and Minnesota Wild rocked the NHL with the Quinn Hughes trade two months ago, and now they might be linking up again, with Conor Garland connected to trade rumours sending Garland to the Wild.
Conor Garland has expressed his desire to stay in Vancouver and see the rebuild through, but it is not up to him.
"In late November, after Allvin informed teams around the league that their pending unrestricted free agents are available, a report came out from Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman saying that the Vancouver Canucks would prefer to keep Conor Garland, but would consider trading him if receiving an offer they can't refuse."-Jaxon
Conor Garland could link up with Quinn Hughes again.
Tyson Cole of Canucks Army reported on the likelihood of Garland ending up on the Wild. The Wild are in need of some forward depth, they have arguably the best goaltending tandem in the league, and d-core that would make any general manager drool, but they lack firepower.
"The clear, glaring need for Minnesota is down the middle. Specifically, a top-line centre to play between Zuccarello and Kirill Kaprizov. And those are rare to find and expensive to acquire. Does it really make sense for the Wild to part with top assets that they would need to go out and acquire that top-line centre for another right-winger, who they don’t even have room for in their lineup?"-Cole
The Wild are in a Central Division race with the Dallas Stars and the Colorado Avalanche, with them likely to finish behind the Avalanche, it means they are going to have a war of a first round against the Stars. They are going to need all the depth they can to get out of that series, and they will likely face the Avalanche, who have the most offensive firepower in the league. The Wild need to make a move, and Garland could be one of the missing pieces.
