With out wasting anytime after the trade, the Vancouver Canucks officially welcome 22-year-old former first round pick Chase Stillman to the organization.

Coming into the offseason, the Vancouver Canucks had a very hard decision to make with the multiple goalies they have in their organization.
They quickly made the choice to re-sign All-Star netminder Thatcher Demko to a four-year contract, basically sealing Silovs' fate with the team, leaving no real slot for him at the NHL level..
This fact was reinforced by the recent eye-opening comments made by President Jim Rutherford, who did not mince words about the situation, saying that in all likelihood - Silovs future in the NHL is not with Vancouver.
We have some very, very good young goalies coming. Right now in our development camp, we've got Young and we've got Medvedev; those two guys are going to be very good NHL goalies someday.

We've got things lined up here. Our plan going forward, right now, is to go with Demko and Lankinen. As well as Silovs played, he could be the odd guy out. He's not waiver exempt anymore.

So, we're going to have to deal with that here in the offseason, but we feel very fortunate where we are with goaltenders.
