A Major Announcement Has Been Issued Regarding the Vancouver Canucks' Playoff Hopes
The Vancouver Canucks can officially be eliminated from Stanley Cup Playoff contention on Tuesday night as they take on Dallas to begin a two-game road trip.
To say it's been an up and down season in Vancouver would be an understatement, as the Canucks have been in the playoff picture off and on since the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign, but
have seen their postseason odds drop quite a bit recently.
As the Vancouver Canucks enter game number 78 on their schedule tonight in Dallas, they'll look to do whatever it takes to remain in contention for a Stanley Cup Playoff spot, but the odds are stacked against them.
Vancouver Canucks could be eliminated from playoff contention tonight
Heading into Tuesday's action across the National Hockey League, there are a couple of teams that can clinch a playoff berth tonight and four, including Vancouver, that can be eliminated from postseason contention.
According to Matt Larkin of Daily Faceoff, the Vancouver Canucks will see their Stanley Cup Playoff hopes vanish tonight if they lose to the Dallas Stars in regulation.
"The clock could strike midnight for the Vancouver Canucks (35-29-13) Tuesday. They will be eliminated from playoff contention if they lose to the Dallas Stars in regulation." Larkin said.
If Vancouver is able to pull out a win over a very strong Dallas Stars team in regulation, they'll remain in playoff contention by a thread, with their odds jumping to 0.4% and up to 0.2% with an overtime win.
The Vancouver Canucks face an unlikely and uphill battle if they want to keep their playoff aspirations alive but in reality, the dream of back-to-back postseason appearances is over and it could lead to some tough decisions in the coming months.
